CGCC Library Celebrates Indigenous Peoples' Day

The Mayor of Seattle passed the Indigenous Peoples' Day Resolution. Other celebrations occur at Brown University, Portland, and Denver.

The city of Duluth recognized the day, but protestors wanted a commitment to water protection. Lawyers are relying on indigenous people as experts for the protection of their lands and water. Civil disobedience has a history of creating change within the American legal system.

Menchú was awarded the Nobel Peace Prize on October 12, 1992.
