In Celebration of Banned Book Week

Report Censorship to the ALA

Have you heard about a book being challenged or banned in a local school or library? Share your story!

The American Library Association tracks bans and challenges to books in schools, libraries, or other settings. You can visit their Challenge Reporting page and give ALA the details. They can even help those trying to protect free speech and access to information.

Dear Banned Author Letter-Writing Campaign

Dear Banned Author is a letter-writing campaign that encourages readers to write, tweet, or email banned or challenged authors during Banned Books Week, sharing what their stories mean to them.

Hosted by the American Library Association, Dear Banned Author raises awareness of censorship while supporting the power of words and those who write them. Authors have also shared fan letters as support when there's a public challenge to their books.

Unite Against Book Bans

Unite Against Book Bans is a national campaign to protect the rights of everyone to access a variety of books in libraries and elsewhere.

Leveraging the reach of a national coalition, Unite Against Book Bans will connect, support, and mobilize local advocates to fight book bans in their communities.
