CGCC Library Celebrates Dr. Seuss and Reading Across America: At a Glance

Read Across America

Read Across America

Read Across America Day, March 2, began as Dr. Seuss Day by the NEA (National Education Association) in 1997 to energize children to read, by celebrating the birthday of Theodore Geisel, better known as Dr. Seuss. He is the author of over 60 children’s books, including The Cat in the Hat and How the Grinch Stole Christmas.  In addition to being an iconic children's book author and illustrator, Geisel was an American artist, book publisher, animator, poet, and political cartoonist. Read Across America's work has expanded to embrace a rich collection of inclusive reading experiences for children and teens.
